PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet recording ink having rapid driability on paper, excellent water resistance and frictional resistance, good long-term storage stability, a high ability to attain good printing quality and other properties essential to an ink jet recording ink and to provide an ink jet recording method. SOLUTION: In the ink jet recording ink essentially consisting of water, a water-soluble organic solvent, a self-water-dispersible pigment, and a surfactant, the surface tension of the ink is 40 m/m or below, the drying time is below 5 sec when a solid image with an image coverage ratio of 100% is printed on plain paper. |
