PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a disperse dye which effects a satisfactory dying even under a severe condition at a high temperature by employing a crystalline monoazo disperse dye in which a certain peak appears in an X-ray diffraction analysis with Cu-Kαray. SOLUTION: This is a crystalline monoazo disperse dye of formula I in which a strong peak appears at a 2θof 5.6- in the diffraction angle 2θrange of 5 deg.-30 deg.. A crystalline dye of formula II in which strong peaks appear at a 2θof 5.3-, 11.7- and 25.7- or a crystalline dye of formula III in which strong peaks appear at a 2θof 6.0-, 11.7- and 19.7- are also preferable. In these dyes, weak peaks of each dye also appear at 11.2-, 16.9-, 18.0-, 19.8-, 22.6- and 27.8-; 6.4-, 9.1- and 20.4-; and 8.5-, 22.9- and 26.1-. Such monoazo disperse dye in a crystalline form is obtained, directly, or after a neutralization, by an agitation of a reaction mass for a typical monoazo dye at a temp. of 50-130 deg.C, or by filtering a cake off, dispersing it into an aqueous medium at a pH of 7.5-12.0 and dispersing a dispersion obtained at a temp. of 50-130 deg.C.
