PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recording sheet with high gloss and excellent printing properties. SOLUTION: In a method for preparing an ink-jet recording sheet with an ink receiving layer contg. at least water-soluble polymer on a substrate, a soln. of the water-soluble polymer is dispersed and mixed by means of a highly homogenizing dispersing apparatus. This water-soluble polymer soln. comprises at least two kinds of water-soluble polymers and this water-soluble polymer soln. pref. comprises gelatin and other water-soluble polymers. In this case, the ratio of gelatin/the water-soluble polymer is 80/20-5/95 by wt. ratio.
