PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an edge-side-plate-equipped bed enabling one nursing person to transfer a bedridden ill person from a bed to a bathtub or a wheelchair or a simple toilet without causing fear or pain. SOLUTION: In an upper-body-side bed 1A which can be split into the upper body side and the lower body side, hinges 31, 32 are foldably attached, respectively, at one end of a floor board 21 for the hip and at one end of a side face to make edge side plates 41, 42 free to open and close. For example, the edge side plate 41 is supported on the edge 6 of a bathtub 5, and a communicating plate 7 placed parallel with the edge side plate 41 is freely removably provided. Columns 8 each fitted with a universal wheel 15 having a oscillation-stopping lock 17 at its lower part are placed as transfer means on four sides to correspond to the upper body side bed 1A, and the upper side of the upper body side bed IA is framed to provide a beam 9 crossing the bed. A lifting member 11 and a foot-raising member 12 are provided.
