PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively and solidly bond a polymer with an organic group containsing a high percentage of fluorine to the surface of a cellulose substance by treating the cellulose substance such as wood or fiber with a copolymer containing a fluorocompound with a polymerizable unsaturated bond and an isocyanate compound with a polymerizable unsaturated bond. SOLUTION: A cellulose material such as wood, paper or cloth, or the cellulose substance of a finished product of such a cellulose material, is soaked in an inert solvent of an aromatic such as toluene, or of an ester such as isobutylacetate, or the like. On the other hand, an isocyanate compound with a polymerizable unsaturated bond such as 2-methacryloyloxyethyl isocyanate and fluorocompound with a polymerizable unsaturated bond such as the ester acrylate of alcohol having a perfluoro alkyl group, are polymerized using a solution polymerization or a suspension polymerization process or the like. In addition, a copolymer solution is added to the cellulose substance soaked in the inert solvent while the solution and the inert solvent are stirred under a heat to cause a chemical reaction and a chemical bonding. Thus it is possible to solidly retain the copolymer in the cellulose substance and make its water repellency persist.
|
