PURPOSE:To ensure a sufficient variation correction, whatever image density may be, by correcting drive parameters for storage elements based on correction data for making the density of an image uniform when formed regarding the densities of various test patterns in accordance with the results of reading various test patterns. CONSTITUTION:When the density variation of a multi-head with 'N' number of recording elements which have their printouts converged to an average density value is corrected, each element (1 to N) is driven by a uniform image signal S. In this case, the densities OD1 to ODN corresponding to each element are measured to obtain an average activating factor for correction purpose. A signal which is actually connected to these elements or this element group can be obtained by determining a correction factor (a) which corrects the signal and determined a target density. That is, the correction signal S which is obtained by correcting the signal S to alpha X S = (OD/ODn) X S has only to be connected to the elements or the element group in accordance with an input signal S. |
