The system comprises a platform (1) for conveying documents in a direction (XX') to a document processing machine (15). A first removable document holder (2) is placed at one end of the platform in a feed zone (10) enables documents to be fed along this direction. A second document holder (3) can be placed in the feed zone after withdrawal of the first holder. A control circuit (16) receives signals from the processing machine and another control circuit (17) is connected to the holders.
