PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent developer from being improperly supplied due to the fact that the developer in a hopper is biased and the upper surface thereof becomes partially high or low in a device supplying the developer housed in the hopper to a developing unit. SOLUTION: This device is provided with the hopper 201 housing the developer inside and having the carrying path 300 and the discharge port of the developer at the lower part, a stirring means 301 stirring the developer in the hopper, a carrying means 302 carrying the developer in the carrying path and a residual quantity detection means for developer 351 added to the hopper. Then, the stirring means 301 is provided with a wiping means 307 wiping the detection surface of the detection means 351 and a driving means 371 being different from a driving means 370 driving the carrying means 302. By selectively driving the stirring means and the carrying means, the upper surface of the developer in the hopper is set to be almost horizontal. Thus, the detection error of he remaining developer is eliminated. |
