PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method for recognition which extracts iso-concn. lines and the contour of an irregularly reflective object of measurement in some arbitrary shape through software processing fast and stably at low cost. SOLUTION: An external or internal model is selected, the density of an extraction isodensity line, etc., is specified, and a borer element ring formed by connecting border elements is set for an object image. On the object border, it is considered that the density P on the border operates on the border inside and specific density P0 operates on the border outside. Assuming that the border is an osmotic film, osmotic pressure ϕ=κ(P-P0 ) is generated from the concn. difference P-P0 across the film, a flux q=δϕ/δn is generated from the low-concn. to the high-concn. side to cause osmosis, and the osmotic film is displaced by uΓ-q. This model is formulated as an equation H ϕ=Gq of a border element law, a solution for the flux q=G<-1> Hϕ is obtained through inverse matrix operation, and the border elements are displaced by (u).
