PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of displaying an image of an arbitrary color tone with uniform brightness over almost whole effective display area of the liquid crystal display device by a simple configuration. SOLUTION: This device consists of a liquid crystal display element 1 provided with a pair of transparent substrates 3 and 4, a liquid crystal 5 filled between the pair of transparent substrates 3 and 4, polarizing plates 6 and 7 arranged on the outside surfaces of the pair of transparent substrates 3 and 4, and a backlight device 2 comprising a linear light source 11, a light guide plate 10 having the linear light source 11 arranged on one side face thereof, a diffuser 9 arranged on one main surface on the side of the liquid crystal display element 1 of the light guide plate 10, and a reflecting plate 12 arranged on another main surface of the light guide plate 10. In this case, the one surface of the reflecting plate 12 facing the light guide plate 10 is made to chromatic planes 151 -154 of which color density is successively lightened according to a distance from the linear light source 11. |
