The invention concerns an apparatus for cleaning fibres or filaments, in particular optical fibres bunched after their protective tube has been removed, characterised in that it consists essentially of a container comprising a lower portion (2) forming a sealed receptacle for a cleaning liquid (3) and an upper portion (4) forming a lid and gradually traversed, along a predetermined treatment path (5), by the filaments or fibres (6) to be cleaned, over its whole length, and of active means (7, 7'; 8, 8') for positively contacting the cleaning liquid (3) with said filament(s) or fibre(s) (6) to generate a cleaning action and of means (9; 10, 10'; 11) for guiding the latter through said cleaning apparatus (1).
