ATM CELL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM cell transmission system simplifying the constitution of an ATM layer device through the use of an expanded physical layer device obtained by expanding regulation by Utopia Level 2. SOLUTION: Each expanded physical layer device 2' outputs a cell transmission permitting signal (TxClav) in the case of being capable of receiving the transfer of K(at least 2)-number of ATM cells in addition to a transmission cell. The transmission control part 102 of an ATM layer device 1 finds at least one expanded physical layer device outputting the cell transmission permitting signal as a transferable expanded physical layer device, allows a cell storing part 4 to output an ATM cell toward the transferable expanded physical layer device to a FIFO memory 5 as a transfer cell and allows the memory 5 to transfer the transferred cell as a next transmission cell to the transferable expanded physical layer device through an interface selectively according to Utopia Level 2 in the next transmitting cycle.
