PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device reduced in cost and saved in energy and to provide a control method for the device. SOLUTION: This image forming device is provided with a fan (cooling means) 350 for cooling a region outside the passage region of a recording paper (transfer material) of a prescribed size, in the region through which a transfer paper of a maximum size passes, of a heating roller, a table 600 on which the relation between the size of the recording paper and the number of cooling means driving starting times is recorded and a control part 500 for fetching number of consecutive copies information (X) from a counting means for counting the number of image forming times and information (W) from a recording paper size selecting means for selecting the size of the recording paper on which an image is formed and deciding the number of cooling means driving starting times (i) by referring to the table, when the size of the recording paper on which the image is formed is smaller than the prescribed size, to drive the fan 350, for the formation of the images after the number of the cooling means driving starting times (i). |
