The invention concerns a device designed to be carried by an animal and capable of controlled release of one or several active principles and, more particularly, one or several medicinal active principles to protect and/or treat said animal against possible pathologies, and of being used as a restraining means for controlling and managing said animal, preferably in combination with a leash or lunge fixed to said device. The invention also concerns a method for making said device. Said device comprises a first material for the controlled release of one or several active substances of polymer matrix type containing said active substance(s) and a second material for providing it with mechanical resistance, and is characterised in that said materials are closely bound within a single structure.
