PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shared coding device to be of common use for both HDTV and n-channel SDTV, which can effectively output the SDTV signals without requiring header processing. SOLUTION: When n-channel SDTV signals of an NTSC, etc., are inputted to a video signal distributor 2, a CPU 1 determines the SDTV video signals based on the input signal data and switches the processing of the distributor 2 to the processing of an SDTV. Then the distributor 2 outputs the SDTV signals to coding parts 31 to 3n in each channel. The video signals which are coded at the parts 31 to 3n are individually supplied to the output I/F (interfaces) 61 to 6n via the system buses 51 to 5n which are separated into the channels (hierarchies) of different levels 1 to (n) and then outputted as bit streams in each channel. |
