PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser beam scanning device which can prevent deterioration in picture quality due to temperature variation by using an optical element which has a relatively high coefficient of thermal expansion. SOLUTION: Lens seat surfaces 263 for the hold parts 291 of an optical housing 29 are provided on both the ends of an fθleans 26 at a distance (h) of <=2 mm to the generating line 262 of the fθlens 26 in the vertical scanning direction. Consequently, even when the optical element with a relatively high coefficient of thermal expansion, e.g. a lens, a mirror, etc., is used the generating line of the optical element has nearly no shift in position in the vertical scanning direction in spite of temperature variation and an incident laser beam can be imaged on a scanning line on a photoreceptor drum, thereby preventing deterioration in picture quality.
