PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform flexible gradation correction corresponding to the kind of an original and the characteristics of an output equipment without increasing a data amount and without causing gradation degradation. SOLUTION: In a gradation correction means 202, the inputted RGB signals of 12 bit/pixel are converted from a reflectivity measure into a density measure by a linear LUT, gradation correction is executed and they are turned to the image signals of 8 bit/pixel and outputted. Then, in an image processing part 102, the respective kinds of processings are executed so as to freely perform the correction corresponding to a mode and the characteristics of the original. The processings executed in the respective parts are controlled by signals outputted by a control means 213. |
