PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce a multichannel voice output from a recording medium such as a DVD-ROM in a pseudo-reproduction manner and obtain a surround effect which cannot be obtained in ordinary two-channel reproduction. SOLUTION: Compressed audio data of 5.1 channels read out from a DVD- ROM 11 are fetched in and expanded by an AC-3 decoder 12, and are temporarily stored in a buffer 13 by each channel. Of the speech data temporarily stored in the buffer 13, the phases of left- and right-rear and front-center speech data are converted. The audio data of left- and right-front audio data, which are not phase-converted, are mixed with the left- and right-area channel speech signals after phase conversion by first and second mixer circuits 21 and 22, and are then converted to analog speech output signals by first and second D/A converters 14 and 15. |
