PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointing stick for controlling the positioning, moving and operating of a cursor on a display screen. SOLUTION: A pointing stick 10 is provided with an integrated structure 20 having a base 24 and a shaft 22 formed integrally with the base 24 and further made practically perpendicular to this base 24. A film 30 is mounted on the base 24 and a sensor 32 is mounted on the film. The sensor 32 detects distortion to the base expressing the direction applying force to the shaft. On the base 24, a cavity 26 can be positioned around the shaft.
