PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means to obtain an optical recording medium in which the sticking efficiency of organic dye to a substrate is enhanced when forming the recording layer of an optical recording medium by a vapor deposition method, the film thickness of the recording layer is made uniform, the occurrence of a splash is prevented and jitters and error rates are improved. SOLUTION: A dye vapor deposition device 10 (a vapor deposition source), which gasifies powder organic dye 14, or a dye container 13 is arranged below a substrate 1 and outside the peripheral section of the substrate 1, and placed at a position where a dye incident angleθis set within the range of 45 to 70 deg. (if the substrate diameter is approximately 12 cm, the angleθis set to 45 to 55 deg.). Thus, the optical recording medium, in which the sticking efficiency of the dye 14 to the substrate 1 is enhanced, the film thickness of a recording layer 17 is made uniform, the occurrence of a splash is prevented and jitters and error rates are improved, is obtained.
