A photon beam generator has a photon-pair generating unit which includes an incident pumping light generating unit (1) and a nonlinear optical medium (3) such that the angle between the incident pumping light and its optical axis is so determined that in the tuning curve, the two curves come in contact at a specific single wavelength a. The photon-pair generating unit generates two photon beams which contain pairs of photons generated at the same time and having a wavelength a. Alternatively, a photon beam generator has a photon-pair generating unit which includes an incident pumping light generating unit (1) and a nonlinear optical medium (3) such that the angle between the incident pumping light and its optical axis is so determined that in the tuning curve, two curves come in contact at wavelength a and b.
