The invention relates to a device for converting energy using fuel cells (1) with proton-conducting electrolytes and with integrated hydrogen gas production. The inventive device comprises a reaction chamber (2) in which H2-gas is produced by reacting water (8) with one or more hydrides (6). The H2-gas can then be transferred into an H2 distribution channel (14) of a fuel cell stack (15). The invention is characterised in that the fuel cells (1) each have an opening (18), said openings making up the H2 distribution channel (14). The H2-gas is fed into the individual fuel cells via these openings. A tension rod (19) for holding the fuel cells (1) together in the fuel cell stack (15) is also located in the openings. The invention also relates to a corresponding method, according to which the H2-gas is used as a combustion gas for the fuel cells (1). |
