<p>A respirator circuit (10) comprises a breathing tube (20), such as an endotracheal tube (50), having a proximal end (54), a distal end (53), and a lumen (55) extending between the proximal and distal ends (54, 53). The lumen (55) defines at least a portion of the respirator circuit (10). A ventilator tube (30) is in fluid communication with the proximal end (54) of the breathing tube (20) end and defines a portion of the respirator circuit (10). One or more light sources (41-46) capable of emitting ultraviolet radiation irradiates at least a portion of the respirator circuit (10), thereby sterilizing the respiratory circuit (10).</p> |
