The device includes a container 1 with a sealed lid 2 which contains a fire-retardant product or agent 3 in which is immersed an extinguisher 4 with explosive charge and from which emerge activation fuses 5 which pass through holes made in the container 1 so that, when the fuses 5 are lit and the extinguisher 4 explodes, the release of the fire-retardant charge in the latter gives rise to the product 3 contained in the container 1 being dispersed, giving rise to a rapid and uniform distribution of said fire-retardant product. The device may be activated by means of a temperature sensor which is activated by means of the heat produced by a fire or, alternatively, it is activated remotely from a control panel connected to the actual fuses 5. <IMAGE>
