The wind machine consists of frames that turn the rotating tube. The rotating tube has, at each end, two full length holes, placed at right angles next to each other. The vertical sides of two frames pass through these holes, having the rotating tube as a common side. Thus four frames are formed each with a variable area. Each frame has a sail. When the frame is at its greatest area, the sail is open and covers its entire surface. When it is at its smallest area, then the sail is wound around the horizontal side. Half the apparatus is covered by an ellipsoid basin. The basin is used to change the area of the frames. When the frames are outside the basin then the area of the frames increases to the greatest point. When they go into the basin, their area reduces to the smallest point. The pressure of the air turns the frame by the open sail, followed by the next while this winds the sail because of the basin guide. |
