The spinning machine (10), with a long drive shaft (26a, 26c; 26b, 30), is divided into a number of machine sections (12a-12c) and shaft sections (26a-26c). Single shaft sections (26a, 26b) are each on mountings at the ends, and the other shaft section (26c) has an auxiliary bearing (24) between the ends. Single machine sections (12a, 12b) are assembled in advance, with their shaft sections (26a, 26b) held at their ends in bearings (22a-22d). The machine section (12c), linking the single sections (12a, 12b), has a shaft section (26c) with an auxiliary bearing (24). The auxiliary bearing (24) is mounted in a carrier (20), fitted into its machine section (26c) as an additional component. One bearing carrier (30a) or the carrier (20) is mounted across the shaft (26c) length line in the machine section (26c). Couplings (30) join the shaft sections (26a-26c) together, in a rigid lock, so that the shafts are bonded coaxial. The couplings (30) are close to the shaft bearings. The machine sections (12a-12c) are composed of longitudinal (16a-16c) and lateral (18a-18d) parts. The bearings (22a-22d) for the shaft ends are mounted to the longitudinal (16a-16c) of lateral (18a-18d) parts of the machine sections. The auxiliary bearing (24) is mounted to a carrier (20) or a lateral part (18a, 18b), with a stabilizing bond at a longitudinal part (16a, 16b; 14a, 14b). The carrier (20) for the auxiliary bearing (24) is a plate component.
