<p>The mold employs an insert with two types of section, one forming a support, another keying with it. When positioned on a section of the tire mold, the support projects from it. When located for molding, each key is assembled in its support. The mold is closed and the tread is molded. The keys are then extracted from the support(s). Finally, mold sections are retracted to the open position to extract the support(s). Independent claims are included for: the tire tread, made as described; the mold used, and the mold insert (10). Each key (16, 17) part-delimits an opening (20-23) of the insert. Each can be moved in a direction other than that of mold (11) opening or closing. The arrangement allows removal of the insert from the mold, without damaging the molding produced. Other preferred features of the insert are detailed. Preferred features: In the method, each key to be freed from its support in the molding insert, is moved in a direction differing from that of opening/closing of the mold section carrying the insert.</p> |
