<p>A radio-based vehicle control system that employs a network (10) of radio signal transmission stations (12, 14, 16, 18) for transmitting radio frequency signals containing broadcast information as well as a data message and a vehicle identification code provided on a subcarrier of the radio frequency signals. The vehicle radio (50) receives the radio frequency signals and deciphers the data message and vehicle identification code and produces a control signal based on the message if the vehicle identification code matches as assigned vehicle code.
