Device for measuring the ionisation current in a combustion chamber

The device is designed to measure the ionization current in the combustion chamber (3) of an internal combustion engine with ignition control. The engine has a spark plug (1) which has a central electrode (4), inserted into a body (2) and connected to an electrical supply (23) via an insulator (5). At least one probe (12) is inserted into the combustion chamber near the spark plug arcing end. A voltage source (22) raises the potential at the probe to a positive value so as to collect the current, in the negative ionized space in the combustion chamber, generated by the combustion of the fuel mixture caused by the arcing (17) between the spark plug electrodes.
