PATCH PANEL WITH RETRACTABLE PATCH CORD

A patch panel for electrically connecting first electrical equipment with second electrical equipment over a range of separation distances includes a patc h panel housing, at least one spool adapted to be rotatably mounted within the housing, and a respective electrically-conductive wire associated with each spoo l. One end of the wire has a first connector adapted to connect to one part of the first electrical equipment, and the other end of the wire has a second connector adapt ed to connect to one part of the second electrical equipment. Each spool has a payo ut section and a storage section, with first and second segements of the wire exten ding within the respective sections. A portion of the first segment of wire is adapte d to be withdrawn from the payout section of the spool according to a separation distance between the one part of the first electrical equipment and the one part of the second electrical equipment.
