<p>The python is made by covering a bundle 13 of tubes with a foam sheath 12, wherein the cross-section of the foam sheath is expanded, the bundle of tubes is passed through the sheath and the sheath collapsed on to the bundle of tubes, in which, for the expansion, the sheath is placed in an evacuable pipe 14 and sealed thereto at its ends, e.g. by conical split ferrules 21 compressing sheath ends against flanged end caps 18. Multiple sheaths are applied by a series of evacuation pipes separated by wheel guides in a sinuous two-dimensional path.</p> |
