Process for determining the metallurgical state of a melt by thermal analysis at a given thickness

Determining the metallurgical condition of a cast iron for a given thickness consists of thermally analyzing three samples contained respectively in a bowl (1) containing a telluric pastille (4), a bowl (2) of normal dimensions and a narrow bowl (3). The critical quenching speed is calculated and the cooling speed for the thickness considered and evaluates the metallurgical condition with reference to predetermined charts. A calculation of the critical speed of recalescence allows a refining of the forecast of the metallurgical conditions in the cast iron.
