PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound containing a fluoroalkyl or a perfluoropolyether and an aliphatic alkyl or an aliphatic alkenyl, having excellent traveling durability, still durability and weather-resistant shelf stability without damaging electromagnetic transduction characteristics, useful as a lubricant for magnetic recording medium having high reliability of practical use. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I (R1 is an aliphatic alkyl or an aliphatic alkenyl; R2 is a fluoroalkyl or perfluoropolyether; R3 is O or S; (a) is 0-20; (b) is 0 or 1; R4 and R5 are each a 1-10C hydrocarbon or hydrogen) such as a compound of formula II. The compound is obtained by compounding a corresponding fluorine-containing alkylcarboxylic acid with an aliphatic amine in an equimolar ratio with stirring. The reaction is preferably carried out in the presence of a solvent such as methyl acetate or the like at 10-30 deg.C. Propylamine, butylamine or the like can be used as the aliphatic amine.
