摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing the objective alkenyl- substituted aromatic compound by which more superior selectivity of the alkenylation is manifested with a smaller catalyst amount while keeping a catalyst activities. SOLUTION: This method for producing an alkenyl-substituted aromatic compound obtained by alkenylating an alkyl-substituted aromatic compound having hydrogen atom at the α-position of the side chain with a conjugated diene comprises using an alkali metal catalyst or a solid basic catalyst obtained by allowing the alkali metal compound to act on an inorganic compound carrier by heating and further allowing an alkali metal or an alkali metal hydride to act on the inorganic compound carrier after the action of the alkali metal compound, and carrying out the reaction in the presence of an alkylaminopyridine of the formula (R1 is H or a 1-6C alkyl; R2 is a 1-6C alkyl).
