PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet printer capable of suppressing generation of satellite drops and, an apparatus and a method for driving an ink-jet printer recording head. SOLUTION: Two piezoelectric elements 116a, 116b are set for each ink chamber 114 corresponding to a nozzle 118. A driving signal for discharging ink drops is applied to the piezoelectric element 116a, and a driving signal for preventing generation of satellite drops at the discharge of ink drops is applied to the piezoelectric element 116b. A displacement timing of each piezoelectric element 116a, 116b is adjusted. A discharge pressure generated by a displacement of the piezoelectric element 116a overlaps with an auxiliary pressure generated by a displacement of the piezoelectric element 116b so that trailing of ink drops is stopped at an early stage and generation of satellite drops is restricted. |
