PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel effector that comprises a protein (or its active fragment) having the enzymatic function of 1-deoxy-D-xylose-5-phosphate synthetase, shows the actions of agrochemicals, herbicides, antibiotic substances and the like and is useful as an agrochemical, a herbicide, an antibiotic and the like. SOLUTION: This novel effector for 1-deoxy-D-xylose-5-phosphate synthetase(DXS) comprises an isolated protein having the functions of 1-deoxy-D-xylose-5- phosphate synthetase or its active fragment, has the actions of agrochemicals, herbicides and antimicrobial agents and is useful as an agrochemical, a herbicide, an antibiotic and the like. This protein is obtained by isolating the chromosomal DNA from Escherichia coil wild type strain W3110, subjecting the chromosomal DNA to the PCR using the known Escherichia coli genome sequence U82664 and a partial sequence as primers to amplify the DNA, incorporating the resultant DSX gene into the plasmid, introducing the plasmid into the host cells of Escherichia coli for expression. |
