摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cross joint structure of a brace such that a cross joint can be surely welded to the shaft of the brace at a predetermined angle and that the shaft can be given similar functions to a shaft having a buckling stopper and provide a method for assembling the structure. SOLUTION: A brace 10a comprises a stiffening pipe 11 made of a rectangular steel pipe and a shaft 12 made of flat steel, which is inserted into the stiffening pipe 11 and supported on one of the opposite inner corner parts of the stiffening pipe 11 with a gapθbetween them. A cross joint 13 comprises a main joint plate 15 having a cut part 14 cut diagonally at about 45 degrees and a pair of split joint plates 16a, 16b. The cut part 14 of the main joint plate 15, with the end 12a of the shaft 12 inserted therein, is diagonally welded to the shaft 12 at about 45 degrees, and the split joint plates 16a, 16b are welded to the main joint plate 15 at about 90 degrees to assemble the cross joint 13. A part 13a of the cross joint 13 is inserted and supported in the stiffening pipe 11.
