摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure improved brittleness and alkali leachability by forming a multiple oxide contg. an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal oxide, Al2 O3 , and SiO2 . SOLUTION: The inorg. multiple oxide is represented by the formula xM2/n O.Al2 o3 .ySiO2 on oven-dry basis and forms a material which exhibits noncombustibility up to 1,000 deg.C by combination with carbon fibers. An aluminum-contg. compd. such as &gamma;-alumina is added to an aq. alkali silicate soln. having 3-50 wt.% concn. by such an amt. as to make the ratio of nM to Al 0.3-0.95, silica particles are then added by such an amt. as to make the ratio of SiO2 to Al2 O3 6.5-150 and they are mixed, aged and heated at <=150 deg.C for >=3 hr to obtain the multiple oxide. The noncombustible material is produced by impregnating an aq. soln. of a mixture of starting materials of the multiple oxide into a fabric of carbon fibers. In the formula, (x) is 0.3-0.95; (y) is 6.5-150; M is an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal; and (n) is the valence of M.
