PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject inhibitor having low toxicity and a strong action by including the solvent extract of the rhizome of Salvia miltiorrhiza as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This reverse transcriptase inhibitor contains the solvent extract of the rhizome of Salvia miltiorrhiza as an active ingredient. The reverse transcriptase inhibitor also contains tanshinones or a compound of formula I [R1 -R6 , are each H, hydroxy, a (substituted) alkyl, a (substituted) alkenyl or the like, or R1 and R2 or R5 and R6 may together form O; Zn are each hydroxy or the like, or two of Z groups bound to the same carbon atom may together form O or KH2 ; (n) is 0-5] (for example, a compound of formula II) as an active ingredient. The inhibitor is preferably administered at a daily dose of 0.01-1000 mg/kg body weight as the active ingredient with one to several portions, when orally administered. |
