PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce various monomers from various alcohols and methyl methacrylate by using a specific catalyst in a prescribed molar ratio and condition. SOLUTION: This method for a transesterification is to mix ingredients A to D by using (A) an alcohol selected from hydroxyethylethyleneurea, ethoxylated cetyl-stearyl alcohol, etc., (B) methyl methacrylate in molar ratio (1:1) to (1:20), (C) an inhibitor selected from hydroquinone, phenothiazinc, etc., in 10-10000 ppm based on the ingredient A and (D) a catalyst selected from dibutyltin oxide, lithium carbonate, etc., in l-10 mole % to form a reaction mixture, then, react the ingredient A with the ingredient B at 60-140 deg.C and 400-760 mmHg, remove an azeotropic mixture of the ingredient B with by- product methanol and obtain a crude product, further, if needed, recycle the ingredients D and B and distill the crude product. |
