A change machine (1, Figure 1) which dispenses change in containers 8 comprises a means 4, 5 for receiving a note, token or high denomination coin and/or a slot (12, Figure 4) for receiving a charge card, a means for determining the value of the deposited tender and calculating the number of small denomination coins of an equivalent value, a means for dispensing a container 8, e.g. a cup, from a closed chamber 6, and a means for dispensing the small denomination coins into the container. Preferably the chamber is lockable and is formed as an integral part of the machine, and a touch pad (14, Figure 4) and display screen (13, Figure 4) are provided when the machine is to be used with charge cards. A pushing plate 12 actuated by a motor 14 driven belt 13 may be provided for supplying a cup from a number of stacks of cups 11 to a position, determined by a micro switch arrangement 17, where it can be charged with small denomination coins from one or more coin hoppers. The machine may be mounted on a plinth (2, Figure 1) and provided with flashing lights, and advertising matter may be printed on the cups. |
