PURPOSE: To provide a production method for an optical fiber to produce an optical waveguide structure in a single crystal fiber. CONSTITUTION: In the crystal growing process from a fused liquid 6 of the source material, the mechanism of crystal growing differs between in the center part 11 and the peripheral part 12 of the solid-liquid interface 7, which induces inhomogeneity of refractive index. This mechanism is used to produce an optical waveguide structure. By this method, an optical waveguide structure can be formed in a single crystal fiber while the crystal is grown. |
