Locating a mobile telephone using standard communication signals

Information regarding the transmission between a mobile telephone (MS) and a base station (BTS) is forwarded to a coordinated center by base station controllers (BSC). Typical data would be transmit and receive power for the mobile and base transmitter, time shift for the mobile and reception quality. The information from several base stations is used to increase redundancy and processed to give a most probable position for the mobile.
