Petrol pump for direct injection internal combustion engine

The petrol pump is a gear type pump with a casing defining a cavity inside which two pinions (7,8) rotate in opposite senses, with entry (11) and delivery (12) chambers one either side of the pinions. A seal separates entry and delivery chambers, with the seal level of sealing a function of the viscosity of the petrol. The seal is formed by an increased number of teeth on the pinions.
