A rapid setting, low shrinkage, cementitious hydraulic binder, especially for wall and floor plasters, comprises a mixture of: (a) 85-97 wt.% rapid setting cement containing 4-12 wt.% C3A clinker phase and /}2 wt.% CaSO4; (b) 3-15 wt.% preferably ground, reactive CaSO4 compound (anhydrite); (c) up to 3 wt.% total Ca(OH)2; and optionally (d) /}4 wt.% additives such as setting retarders, setting accelerators, plasticisers, anti-foam and/or anti-sedimentation agent and anti-shrinkage agent. Also claimed is a wall or floor plaster mortar containing the above binder and (preferably carbonate and/or silicate based) aggregates in a wt. ratio of 1 : 1-6. Further claimed is a method of producing the above binder, in which the rapid setting cement and the reactive CaSO4 compound are separately ground and then mixed together. |
