A process for the isomerization of C8 aromatic cuts to produce xylenes

The use of a mordenite-type catalyst activated with metals from groups VIII, III and/or IV , gives improved performance in the isomerization of C8 aromatic cuts to form xylenes. A process for the isomerization of C8 aromatic cuts in the presence of a catalyst comprising a group VIII metal (alone or combined) a group III and/or group IV metal (alone or combined) and a support comprising a mordenite zeolite with a Si / Al ratio less than 20 and a binder compound. Independent claims are also included for the catalyst composition and its method of preparation.
