The vehicle seat has its foot (5) supported on a guide rail (10) fixed to the vehicle floor. The foot has a locking catch (14) which is moved by controls between locked and withdrawn positions. The catch comprises a first jaw (16) extending vertically from the foot and pivoted to move between locked and withdrawn positions. The free end of the jaw comprises an anchoring claw (18) which can engage under the guide rail to prevent the separation of the foot and the guide rail when locked.
