Composite sealing material using silicone foam rubber applied as liquid

A material for making seals consists of a metal sheet (1) with a layer of silicone foam rubber (3) applied in liquid form on one side. Independent claims are included for a material which has a layer (2) of foam rubber or silicone foam rubber also on the other side, and for two methods of manufacture. A rubber solution is applied from a mixer (4a) and placed by a spreader (7) into the gap formed between a stretched film (8a) and the sheet (1). The foam layer (3) is then formed by heating (10) and the film is removed. In an alternative claim the film is placed in position after the spreader (7).
