The digital image transmission method coded as partial image data at the transmission station and divided into data packets conforming to the GSM transmission standard, for transmission via a mobile radio network to a mobile reception device at which the data packets are entered in a memory (41) and converted back into image data fed to a display (40) via a partial image decoder (36). An Independent claim for a portable reception device for transmitted video images is also provided.
