Long-life halogen cycle lamp for operation at above 85V comprises an envelope containing a tungsten filament and a halogen-containing gas at a pressure of at least 3 atmospheres, the envelope being made of an alkaline earth aluminosilicate glass of composition (in wt.%): SiO2 58-64, Al2O3 14-17.5, B2O3 0-1, MgO 1-7, CaO 5.5-14, BaO 6-17 and ZrO2 0-1.5.
